You are at your desk and there is a blank screen and/or page in front of you. There are many words floating in your head but nothing comes out. You feel blocked, frustrated, and ready to stop. I encourage you to release it all with a deep breath and know that there is a way to get the words aligned in perfect harmony.
A great way to start is with a free write. You may ask how am I going to free write when I’ve been staring at this blank page? Have no fear, I have five engaging writing prompts that will get your creative juices flowing.
First we have to set the up the scene. Sit in a comfortable space, sometimes I like to go outside by water, put on some of your favorite music, grab a beverage of your choice, and take another deep breath. As you relax write down your prompt and let it flow for 5-10 minutes. Once you are done, take a break.
A free write is like the warm up before the exercise. It helps to get your mental space ready and many times within your free write ideas develop.
Here are five writing prompts that will help you write with ease.
1. If I could go back I would ____
2. I learned to love myself when ___
3. I am a butterfly fresh out of the cocoon my new freedom will lead me to ____
4. I unlearned ____ from my past
5. I am in elementary school the last bell just rang. I am feeling ____
I hope these prompts help you get the pen on the page and let it flow.
