Last week the world congratulated Misty Copeland on becoming the first African American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre. This has changed the history of ballet as we know it. As a lover of the art and participant for about 12 years, dance was and still is one of my favorite arts, sports, and pass times.
Misty Copeland’s elegant grace and beauty has given the world a glimpse of what can happen when faith, determination, and hard work pays off. She stayed consistent and aligned. Remembering her interviews in the past, she said she wanted to be the principal ballerina of the American Ballet Theatre. She claimed it and made it happen.
Let this be an inspirational lesson that we can speak what we want into existence. We have to do the work, keep the faith, and stay consistent. Thank you Misty for being a leader for our young girls who want to pursue ballet, for being a dreamer, for being the best, for striving for more, and inspiring us all.
