You hear the small voice in your head, it is a faint whisper like the soft chirp of a bird on a spring morning. The chirp becomes a distant sound and you eventually get up and prepare for the routine of your day.
As you go through your days, weeks, months, and years that little voice, like the bird, is telling you to move in another direction, attend an event, or take the step to start focusing on your dream. We hear this voice and it becomes a distant sound. When it appears a little louder, sometimes we ignore it and/or suppress it with excuses.
Sometimes it is scary to leave what we’ve known for so long. You know in your heart that it is time. That chirp/voice is getting louder, and although things are familiar, they are uncomfortable. This is when you know it is time to take that step and respond to the calling.
That voice is an aligned message to help you get to your next step. The key is to listen, respond, and continue. There are times where the path doesn’t make sense, or it looks like nothing that you imagined. That is the beauty of the journey. Get out of the thought of being comfortable, show up for yourself, and make the step to live a life on purpose.
What is that voice telling you to do?
Here are some things that you can do to respond when your purpose comes calling.
Be still and truly listen
Write down what you hear.
Write down three things you will do to respond. (Show up for yourself, make the call, reconnect with someone etc.)
Stay consistent. (Don’t get discouraged, do something daily to respond to your calling)
Don’t be surprised if you start meeting people or finding opportunities that are aligned.
Trust the process and enjoy the journey.
