Move Mountains One Step at a Time

TweetThere are three months left in 2011. As we are starting to rush and attempt the goals we never started I am asking you to stop and think. There are reasons, it could’ve been time, relationships, energy sapping events, fear or you simply weren’t ready. When you start to complete the goals, understand the beauty of the journey.
One of my biggest issues when it comes to goals is I want it done in an instant. I tend to push myself and move on to the next goal without celebrating the others. This year I learned a lesson that instant isn’t always the best thing. In a blink of an eye our life can change but sometimes within that blink we miss the journey and the lessons that come along with it.
This year I got a late start on my goals and I am fine with that. What I embraced was the art of slowing down and understanding myself through the process. I also learned how to celebrate the little accomplishments that lead to the completed goal. For example if you want to lose 10lbs by the end of the year. You have three months to do it. If you’ve been eating crap all year, changing your habit is a process. Start small choose a goal a week and habits will build and form in a positive way. Week one promise to drink more water, carry that habit into week two and make a self-promise to exercise more carry that into week three and so on. With the habits and self-promise this is essential. If you can’t be accountable to yourself and keep a promise how do you expect anyone else to do the same for you.
If you want to accomplish moving that mountain this year start small, stay diligent and check out these tips.
1. Imagine yourself walking as a baby one step in front of the other. For a baby this is a huge accomplishment, and as adults we take it for granted. Whatever goal it is write it down and make a bullet point list as to how you can make it happen. Start today cross out an item each week. Learn to celebrate your accomplishments.
2. Embrace the growth. Even if the outcome is not what you wanted to happen you challenged yourself to do something different and stepped outside of your comfort zone.
3. Stay present and appreciate the journey. I truly believe in synergy, once we plant the seed there are people and situations that enter our life that help us prepare for the next chapter. Keeping this in mind we can stay clear and aware through many situations. The awareness keeps it all in perspective.
4. Don’t give up. You have the vision and the light so make it happen.
How do you embrace the journey?
